Meeting DetailsEmphasis, Goals & Scientific Focus

Meeting Emphasis

The Alternative Muscle Club meeting is aimed at scientists early in their research careers. It provides an opportunity for PhD students, postdocs, and junior faculty to present their work in a more relaxed environment. Its main goal is to connect people from the greater San Diego and Southern California research community, and help them learn about projects from other research laboratories.

Areas of Interest

The one-day meeting covers a wide range of muscle-related research areas. We will try to represent the full range of muscle-related research that is being undertaken in the greater San Diego area and Southern California.
  • Muscle and Vascular Development
    • Cardiac Development
    • Skeletal Muscle Development
    • Gene Expression Profiling
    • Cardiac Vasculature
    • Model Organisms
    • Pathogenesis and Progression of Cardiac and Skeletal Muscle Myopathies
  • Muscle Structure and Function
    • Structural Analysis of Muscle Proteins
    • Molecular Functions of Muscle Proteins
    • Muscle Signaling Pathways
